All New 2012 Volkswagen Beetle

After years of design and development, the new bug has come to life. It’s the all-new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle people! It has taken VW design team more than a decade to work on this new design (well, we understand. to work from something that ugly can be very frustrating) and VW will be unveiling the Beetle today at the Shanghai Auto Show.

Before, we start on this new Beetle, let’s go through a quick history lesson on a bug’s life. The original bug was created in 1938 and there were 21.5 millions of them roaming the face of the earth ever since. The second generation New Beetle came in 1998 but only managed to sell slightly more than 1 million units. Well, that’s because the ‘triple bubble’ design is TOO cutesy tushy, and confusing (both front and rear look the same).
This third generation bug will only be known as the ‘Beetle’ as opposed to the ‘New Beetle’ for the second generation. Otherwise, it will be difficult. ‘Newer New Beetle’? In summary, this Newer New Beetle is a squashed version of the New Beetle, hence lower (-12mm) and bigger (+84mm width, +152mm length). And most importantly, it is not as cutesy tushy. Good for both men and women.
It comes in a few variants for petrol or diesel. As for petrol versions, there are 1.2-litre TSI 105 HP, 1.4-litre TSI 160 HP, 2.5 liter 170 HP and a 2.0 liter TSI turbocharged engine spitting out 200 HP from that little bug. Diesel variants are 1.6-liter 105 HP and 140 HP annd 2.0 liter TDI turbo diesel of 140 HP. These engines variants can have the dual clutch transmission as an option.
